We don’t always talk about what it means to be happy while going through a hard season, but that’s exactly what I’ve been reflecting on lately. Postpartum has been both beautiful and overwhelming—I’ve been feeling immense joy and deep stress at the same time. And honestly? That surprised me.
It wasn’t until I traveled to my hometown to visit my immediate family that I truly began to process everything. My mom gave me some of the best advice I’ve ever received about navigating difficult seasons. She reminded me that I wasn’t struggling because I had done something wrong, chosen the wrong spouse, or failed as a mom. I was struggling because this season is inherently hard.
That shift in perspective changed everything. She helped me see that I can’t skip this season. I can’t optimize my way out of it. I can’t prevent it from being difficult. But I can accept it. And in accepting it, I can hold on to my happiness—even when things feel overwhelming.
This realization made me think about how often we resist hard seasons, trying to force them into something easier or more manageable. But what if the key to happiness isn’t changing the season, but learning how to be happy inside of it?
I dive deeper into this conversation in this week’s episode of The Stacey Flowers Podcast. If you’ve been feeling the tension of a challenging season, this episode is for you. Tune in and learn how to protect your happiness—no matter what season you’re in.
