Contrary to popular belief, blogging is neither dead nor dying. In fact, I predict a resurgence of all forms of long-form content—especially blogging. But why?
In my opinion, it’s because we’ve collectively burned out on short-form, comparison-driven, rage-bait, trauma-dumping, cancel culture, and polarized content that exploded during the pandemic. As a culture, we seem less interested in being distracted or feeling good by comparing ourselves to others. We aren’t as entertained by the chaos. Instead, we’re making a quiet but significant pivot back to the fundamentals of media—content that educates, inspires, entertains, and truly connects.
We want to be informed, not polarized. We want inspiration that moves us forward, not diagnoses that hold us in place. We crave entertainment rooted in creativity, not voyeurism. We want to manage our timelines, not become consumed by our feeds. And we’ll get there through long-form content.
Why? Because long-form content requires thought, planning, curation, and intention. It demands that creators slow down, organize their ideas, and deliver something meaningful—something we’ve all been yearning for after the chaos of the last few years.
Why Blogging? Why Now
I’ve always (yes, always.) wanted a blog. But until now, I struggled to find the time, commitment, or consistency to turn it into a true creative outlet and reliable source of income. That all changes in 2025, and here’s why:
- I’ve rediscovered my love for long-form content.
I am, without question, the most long-winded person you know—and I love that about myself! Writing gives me the space to express myself fully, to think deeply, and to create something meaningful. - I’ve shifted the revenue model and focus of my business.
My goals are clear: to do less while earning more. My life demands this simplicity now because I am a housewife, stay-at-home-mom and I want to focus on my family. - I’ve embraced motherhood in a new way.
Raising children 22 years apart requires a different version of me—a version I’ve always dreamed of becoming.
Why Now?
This season of life has made me realize that while no income is truly passive, some types of income allow you to work once and let that work continue to grow. This is the kind of income I’m pursuing, and blogging is the perfect platform to achieve it.
Speaking has been an incredible source of income, allowing me to reach and inspire hundreds of thousands of people. But continuing that pace, even part-time, would require me to be away from home. And for the next year—maybe longer—I want to be home, right next to my daughter.
This desire isn’t new. It’s been within me since I had my son 22 years ago. When Rakim was born, I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom, but as a young mother, it wasn’t financially possible. I did the next best thing: I went to college and lived on campus with him. For his first year, I didn’t work, but I did attend classes full-time. Even those 4-6 hours a day away from him were excruciating. I vowed that if I ever had another child, I would find a way to stay home, not just to avoid that pain but to fully embrace the kind of mother I’ve always wanted to be. Now, I have that opportunity.
